Birthday Banners

Are you looking for ways to give a more eco-friendly birthday party?

One Mom and a Party has introduced its eco-friendly birthday banners!

Instead of paper decorations and streamers, add a fabric birthday banner! Not only are you cutting back on paper waste, you will have something that you can use over and over again.

We have banners in red/black/yellow or pink/black/yellow or an all pink banner just for girls! You can also select from our fabric inventory to create your own banner. If you don't see patterns for your party's theme, email us at onemom@onemomandaparty.com and we will be happy to custom make a banner just for your party.

Just one more way to green your birthday celebration. Check out One Mom and a Party for more eco-friendly birthday party ideas and supplies.

Thanks to CanCan at My Greening:Going Green for her spontaneous review of One Mom and a Party.

I had participated in the Great Summer Bloggy Giveaway, offering an eco-friendly party set of the winner's choice from One Mom and a Party. CanCan was not the winner, but she thoroughly checked out my eco-friendly party products and posted a review on her blog! I only learned of it in my blog comments! How sweet is she???

So bookmark or subscribe to this blog and CanCan's blog so you won't miss the next giveaway. It's going to be an eco-friendly Happy Birthday banner. Use it in place of paper decorations and streamers and make your next birthday party a little more eco-friendly!

Green Giveaway

One Mom and a Party is all about helping moms green up their kid's birthday parties. One simple way is to use our cloth tablecloths, napkins and favor bags to reduce paper waste.

Then you can use your own cutlery or buy biodgradable cutlery, plates and cups. The August issue of Parenting Magazine has recommended their favorite brands. For cutlery they recommend Jaya's (available at amazon.com) for it's durability and smooth comfy feel. StalkMarket's plates and bowls (also available at amazon.com) are microwave safe and oil-resistant. The winner for cups, both cold and hot, was Eco-Products (ecoproducts.com)

In August, 25 lucky moms can win a set of biodegradable picnicware which includes a package of 50 Eco-Products drinking cups, a box of StalkMarket cutlery, a pack of StalkMarket dinner plates PLUS a Green Gourmet Cuisinart skillet (a $70 value alone!)Just hop over to Parenting.com/giveaways to enter.

It's just a little step but that's how we can be kinder to our planet, One Mom, One Party at a time!

The Eco-Friendly Birthday Party

I thought I'd post a weekly tip from my One Mom and a Party website to help moms give more eco-friendly birthday parties. Greening up a birthday party doesn't have to be intimidating - just start by taking little steps!

Here is a tip to give you some ideas for a summer party Adventure Theme that you can plan around your own locale and the interests of your child.

This green party theme goes outdoors wherever you are. Walk in a forest, a park, along a lakeside, river or beach. Set a time or distance limit and have the children collect whatever they find interesting then share their treasures with the others at a picnic. Or make it a scavenger hunt and give everyone a list of items to find. See our Montessori inspired party activities for ideas. Give older children a map or written directions and introduce them to orienteering. Or have children come on their bikes and hold a rally, riding skills contest, race or parade.

For more party ideas visit One Mom and a Party. Our eco-friendly favor bags are on sale until July 31st!

Elephant Poo Poo (yes, you read it right!)

I have to tell you about the coolest company! We all know about the benefits of using recycled or biodegradable products, but there is a company that is using elephant "poo" to make the loveliest note paper, greeting cards and journals! Really!

It's called THE GREAT ELEPHANT POO POO PAPER COMPANY LIMITED and you can visit them at www.poopoopaper.com. They tell you up front that they can "take the "oo" out of poo and invite you to browse their "poo-tique."

Take the time to read their "poo-load" of information about African and Asian elephants and the process by which poo becomes poo poo paper. If you're wondering how much elephant poo it takes to make a poo poo paper journal, they will tell you!

It's not the elephants in North America that are "participating" in this recycling enterprise. Their factory is in Thailand and they purchase their raw material (the poo) from local conservation camps and individual mahouts providing them with a modest income source to help cover the cost of elephant upkeep. A percentage of the profits from each item is also donated to elephant welfare and conservation efforts.

I was so impressed that I use poo poo paper for my One Mom and a Party product tags.

This is one of those times we can think globally and act locally so check them out! It's a terrific company, a great cause and a beautiful product.

Pumkin Patch Creations

I've just had the greatest experience with one of the bloggers I met through 5 Minutes for Mom (see button). I have been revising my One Mom and a Party website to launch during Earth Week and was needing a fresher look. Trista to the rescue! Although she had never done a website before but she jumped in and had One Mom all spruced up the same day I contacted her! How terrific is that?!

So if you need a new look, contact Trista at Pumpkin Patch Creations. I've posted her button for you.

I think I'll have to email her myself for my blog!
